We’ve done some fact finding and we're really surprised at what we found…

As one of the largest independent Second Hand Furniture Companies in the UK, we thought it was about time we checked out the competition in our most popular area – inner M25 London. After all, surely there are a ton of companies down there that are cheaper than us, that offer UK deliveries and have the stock we have?

The results were somewhat baffling to be honest. Considering London has a population of 9.6 million and there are 3.7m dwellings, the choice Londoners have when it comes to buying second hand furniture London online is really poor – honestly no wonder we’re so so busy!

So lets take the top 10 results on google for the search term Second Hand Furniture London:

  1. Second Time Around London – Hmmmmm they have no stock for sale on their website at all? No reference to Deliveries or Payment options and no shopping cart?

  2. Thrifty Londoner - This is an advertorial site used to sell advertising to second hand and vintage furniture dealers – so nothing for sale here. Typically these are managed by SEO companies and all they do every day is ensure their sites are at the top of google to charge more advertising revenue.

  3. London Cheapo – This is an advertorial site used to sell advertising to second hand and vintage furniture dealers – so nothing for sale here. Typically these are managed by SEO companies and all they do every day is ensure their sites are at the top of google to charge more advertising revenue.

  4. Preloved – Hey it’s a big national site full of private sellers, so if you are looking for items to get delivered to you – you need to look elsewhere

  5. Cullens of Surrey – Hmmm no furniture for sale at all – just some rather strange magazines from their eBay store (which has 796 feedback – we have 5000) and are based on the Isle of Wight?

  6. Vintage Home Stores – yep although we're based in the North East, Vintage Home Stores are on the first page of google, and yes we have a ton of furniture for sale, yes we offer the cheapest delivery to London in the UK, yes you can buy it through our website and yes you can pay by card or with Paypal Pay In 3. We are the only site on the first page of google that offers these basic things.

  7. Bystored – This is an advertorial site used to sell advertising to second hand and vintage furniture dealers – so nothing for sale here. Typically these are managed by SEO companies and all they do every day is ensure their sites are at the top of google to charge more advertising revenue.

  8. Redroosterldn - This is an advertorial site used to sell advertising to second hand and vintage furniture dealers – so nothing for sale here. Typically these are managed by SEO companies and all they do every day is ensure their sites are at the top of google to charge more advertising revenue.

  9. Gumtree – Hey it’s a big national site full of private sellers, so if you are looking for items to get delivered to you – you need to look elsewhere – oh it’s owned by eBay

  10. Emmaus – Charity Shop but you cant buy online or see any stock and it doesnt mention anything about how to pay or about deliveries.

So there are about 75,500,000 searches on google for the phrase Second Hand Furniture London, and this is the top 10. Why we're not number one is beyond me. We're the only retailer on there that offers quality second hand furniture London for sale that you can actually buy online, the only one that offers delivery throughout most of England and the only one that allows you to pay by card or Paypal Pay in 3.

So that answers the question “why do we have vans in London every weekend that are always full, and we always have to book 3 weeks in advance?”.

If you're a geek like us, you may be interested to know we also did a similar experiment using Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sunderland, Darlington, Northallerton, Blackpool and many many more. The answers are more or less the same with Vintage Home Stores always near the top, and we're normally one of the only sites that offer full retail facilities.

So thank you to all of the web team here at Vintage Home Stores – the evidence is clear, you're doing an amazing job!
