From Scheduling Snafus to 4 AM Calls: A Cautionary Tale about External Couriers

There’s a certain joy in finding the perfect vintage piece for your home. And then comes the inevitable question, “How am I going to get this home?” Enter our delivery service Teesside10, saving you from the perils of dubious courier alternatives. But don't just take our word for it. Let's dive into a real-life fiasco.

Remember the infamous 4:23 AM courier call? An optimistic customer once thought they could get a better deal with external couriers, Anyvan, saving a whopping £11!

As we refuse to deal with anyvan being well aware how naff their carriers can be, the customer arranged it themselves advising us their courier would collect between 9am - 2pm on the following Thursday. No problem, right? Unfortunately, things didn't quite go according to plan.

Long story short, no courier appeared within the agreed slot. Calls were made, and despite the customer's best efforts, the language barrier between them and their carrier proved a formidable foe as their driver never spoke any English. The punchline? A call from the courier...at 4:23 AM on a Friday morning with them outside our warehouse ready to collect. Needless to say, they were politely asked to leave. The funny part was we seen them on the cameras outside in a SWB car style van yet they were supposed to be collecting a 3 seater sofa, 2 Seater Sofa, Armchair and an Oak Dresser which would never in a million years fit in!

The customer didn’t even receive a refund from their courier despite their service blunder, they opted for a courier based in Poland so it's not like they could get anyone else involved to help them.

In the end Teesside10 came to the rescue and delivered to the customer when they said in a new Huge Van, and did so in the friendly yet easily understandable broad Teesside accent!

You see when it comes to freight it's not all about price, if anyone is able to better Teesside10's prices I would tread carefully. They will only cut corners so the only person who suffers is you - or worse still if you are a seller, this opens a whole world of pain for you!

Freight is the most important aspect of an online sellers reputation. The courier is the only person your customer see's and directly interacts with from your business. If you are choosing someone in a poorly equipped vehicle that doesnt speak English and doesnt value timekeeping, what on earth is your customer going to think of you! Come on, do it properly, do it with www.teesside10.co.uk.
